The upgraded system goes a step further: it predicts which slots are likely to be cancelled before the cancellation happens, and pre-positions matched patients to respond instantly.
How prediction works
The prediction model is trained on two years of appointment data across the Looms clinic network. It identifies patterns — specific appointment types, times of day, days before the appointment — that correlate with a high cancellation rate. Slots above a cancellation probability threshold are flagged in the clinic's view, and waitlisted patients are quietly pre-matched.
Faster offer delivery
When a predicted slot does cancel, the pre-matched patient receives the offer within seconds. Without pre-positioning, the matching process takes 60–90 seconds after a cancellation is confirmed. Pre-positioned offers go out in under five seconds — critical for same-day and next-day slots where patients need time to rearrange their schedule.
For patients on the waitlist
The patient experience is unchanged — you join the waitlist for the appointment type and timing you want, and you receive an offer when a slot becomes available. You'll simply find that offers arrive more quickly, and that same-day slots are available more often than before.
