Understanding a blood panel has always required either a medical appointment or hours of independent research. From today, every Looms patient can upload a lab result and receive an instant AI-generated explanation — written in plain language, grounded in clinical context, and specific to their personal history.
What the AI analyses
The analysis covers the full range of standard blood and urine panel markers: complete blood count, metabolic panel, lipid panel, thyroid function, liver enzymes, kidney markers and more. The AI reads both the numeric values and the reference ranges provided by the lab, then compares them against your historical results to identify trends.
- Flags values outside the lab's reference range
- Highlights values that have changed significantly since your last test
- Explains what each marker measures and why it matters
- Identifies patterns that may warrant a follow-up discussion with your doctor
Plain language by design
The AI is specifically tuned to avoid clinical jargon where plain language serves just as well. Instead of 'elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate', it says 'your inflammation marker is higher than the normal range'. Where clinical terms are necessary, they are defined in context.
Every explanation is accompanied by a clear note that lab results should always be reviewed with your doctor — AI analysis is a tool for understanding, not a replacement for clinical judgment.
Privacy and data handling
Lab results and AI analyses are encrypted at rest and in transit. The AI does not store your results or use them to train future models. Analysis is performed on-demand, per request, and only accessible to you and healthcare providers you explicitly authorise.
How to get started
If your clinic or lab is connected to Looms, your results appear automatically. If you have paper or PDF results, you can upload them directly in the Records section. Once uploaded, tap 'Analyse with AI' to receive your explanation within seconds.
