Health data sharing in Looms has always required your approval. Today's update goes further: instead of approving access at the clinic level, you can now choose exactly which records, categories and time periods each provider can see — and change those permissions at any time.
How granular sharing works
When you connect with a new clinic, you see a sharing configuration screen. You can grant access to specific record types — lab results but not radiology, prescriptions but not referral letters — or restrict access to records from a specific date range.
You can also create a sharing 'view' for a specific consultation: a temporary permission that gives a provider exactly what they need for that appointment and nothing more.
Revoking access
Any permission can be revoked at any time. The clinic will see that access has been restricted but will not see the records that are no longer shared. Revoking access does not delete any records — it only removes the clinic's ability to view them.
Why this matters
Patient-controlled sharing is a cornerstone of data dignity. Your health history belongs to you. Looms exists to give you the tools to share it strategically — with the right people, at the right time, for the right purpose.
