The integration between Looms prescriptions and UAE pharmacy chains went live today at three national chains, collectively covering more than 400 pharmacy locations. For the first time, a Looms patient can walk into any of those pharmacies, show a QR code and have their prescription verified and dispensed without paper, a phone call or uncertainty.
How the pharmacy experience works
The patient opens their prescription in the Looms app — or shows the printed QR code — and the pharmacist scans it. The pharmacy system retrieves the verified prescription, confirms it hasn't been fully dispensed, records the dispensing and updates the prescription status in Looms in real time.
If a prescription requires partial dispensing — for example, a 90-day supply dispensed in three 30-day tranches — the system tracks each dispensing event and updates the remaining balance automatically.
For patients without the app
Patients can receive a printed prescription with a QR code from their clinic. The code works identically to the digital version — the pharmacy scans it and retrieves the prescription from the Looms system. No phone, no app and no internet connection required at the pharmacy counter.
Expanding the network
Three more pharmacy chains are in integration testing and are expected to join the network within 90 days. Independent pharmacies can apply to join the Looms pharmacy network through the Partner Programme.
