Large medical bills — dental treatment plans, fertility programmes, surgical packages — present a real access barrier when they must be paid upfront. Installment Payment Plans in Looms let clinics offer structured payment schedules, turning large one-time costs into manageable monthly payments while ensuring the clinic receives its revenue on a predictable timeline.
How installment plans work
When creating an invoice, the clinic can offer the patient a payment plan option. The clinic sets the number of installments and the payment interval, and the patient approves the schedule before treatment begins. Each installment is automatically invoiced and charged on the agreed date, with a reminder email sent three days in advance.
The full payment schedule is visible to both the patient and clinic at all times in the Finance section.
Failed payments
If an installment payment fails, the patient is notified immediately and given a 48-hour window to update their payment details before the clinic is alerted. This built-in grace period reduces the administrative burden of following up on failed payments manually.
Reconciliation
Installment payments are reconciled automatically against the parent invoice. The clinic's Finance overview shows each invoice's payment status — partially paid with a remaining balance, fully paid, or overdue — without any manual calculation.
