One of the most common and consequential health decisions is deceptively simple: how urgent is this? Should you call 999, book a same-day appointment, schedule a routine GP visit or simply rest and monitor? Getting that decision wrong in either direction has real costs — undertriage can be dangerous, overtriage overwhelms emergency services. Ask Looms Symptom Triage is designed to help patients make that call with better information.

How the triage works

You describe your symptoms in plain language — the tool understands both Arabic and English. The AI asks targeted follow-up questions, then cross-references your response with your Looms health profile: your age, known conditions, current medications and any recent lab results that might be relevant.

The output is a triage recommendation in one of four categories: seek emergency care immediately, see a doctor today, book a routine appointment, or monitor at home with specific signs to watch for.

Safety by design

The triage tool is designed to be conservative. When in doubt, it errs toward 'see a doctor today' rather than 'monitor at home'. The tool explicitly directs patients to emergency services for any symptoms that could indicate a time-critical condition such as chest pain, stroke symptoms or severe allergic reaction — and never attempts to triage these itself.

Not a diagnosis

The triage tool recommends a care pathway — it does not diagnose. This distinction is made clearly throughout the interaction and in the output. The goal is to help patients get to the right level of care, not to replace clinical assessment.
