Using the Symptom Checker

The Symptom Checker lets you describe what you're experiencing and returns a structured breakdown of possible causes, their likelihood, and suggested next steps. It's a tool for orientation — not a diagnosis.

How to use the Symptom Checker

  • Open Symptom Checker from the navigation
  • Describe your main symptom in plain language — 'chest tightness after exercise' is better than just 'chest pain'
  • Add any relevant context — duration, severity, related symptoms
  • Review the possible causes and suggested actions

What the results mean

The checker returns a list of possible conditions that match your described symptoms, ordered by likelihood. Each entry includes a brief explanation and a suggested next step — from 'monitor at home' to 'see a doctor this week' to 'seek emergency care now'.

Important limits

  • The Symptom Checker is not a clinical diagnosis — it cannot examine you or access your full history
  • It is not appropriate for emergencies — if you have severe symptoms, call emergency services immediately
  • Results are not stored permanently unless you choose to log the entry to your Health Timeline
  • Always follow up with a healthcare professional if you are uncertain or concerned
