Not every lab is connected to Looms directly. If you receive a paper result, a PDF from your clinic's portal, or a result in an email, you can still add it to your Looms record — either by uploading the document or by entering the values manually. Once uploaded, see reading lab results and insights to understand what Looms surfaces, and understanding reference ranges for help interpreting the numbers.
Option 1: upload the document
- Go to Lab Results and tap the + button
- Select Upload a document
- Choose the PDF or image file from your device
- Set the record type to Lab Result and enter the test date
- Looms AI will read the document and extract key values automatically
- Review the extracted values and correct any errors before saving
Option 2: enter values manually
For a quick entry — particularly if you only want to log one or two values for trend tracking — you can enter results manually without uploading a document.
- Go to Lab Results and tap Add manual entry
- Select the test type (e.g. Haemoglobin, HbA1c, TSH)
- Enter the value and unit exactly as shown on your report
- Set the collection date
- Add the lab name in the notes field
- The value will appear in your Lab Insights trend chart alongside any other results for the same test
Tips for accurate uploads
- Photograph the report in bright light, flat on a surface — avoid shadows and angles
- Ensure the lab name, date and reference ranges are visible in the image
- If units differ from what Looms expects (e.g. mg/dL vs mmol/L), Looms will prompt you to confirm the unit before saving
- For very old results, check the date carefully — the collection date, not the report date, should be used
