Understanding record types and tags

Every document you keep in Looms is sorted by type. Choosing the right type when you upload takes a second and makes everything easier to find, filter and understand later.

The main record types

  • Lab result — blood tests, urine tests and other lab reports
  • Prescription — medications prescribed to you
  • Radiology image — X-rays, scans and imaging
  • Medical report — letters, summaries and clinical notes
  • Vaccination — immunisation records and certificates
  • Other — anything that doesn't fit the categories above

Why the type matters

The type does more than label a file. It groups related documents together, powers the filters on your records list, and helps features like Lab Insights know which documents contain results worth trending. A lab report filed as a lab result can feed your trends; the same report filed as other can't.

Tagging and titles

A clear, specific title — for example the test name and the clinic — beats a generic one when you're scanning a long list months later. Set the correct date too, since your records and timeline are ordered chronologically.

Changing a type later

If you pick the wrong type, you can edit the record and correct it. Note that documents issued to you directly by a clinic are locked to preserve their authenticity, so their type can't be changed.
