Tracking your weight and BMI

Weight naturally fluctuates day to day, so a single reading on the scale tells you very little. Logging it over time in Looms turns those noisy numbers into a clear trend — and calculates your BMI along the way.

Logging your weight

  • Open the Vitals Journal
  • Add a new weight reading with the date
  • Save it — the entry joins your weight history
  • Log at a consistent time, such as first thing in the morning, for comparable readings

How BMI is worked out

BMI (body mass index) combines your weight with your height to give a single number. As long as your height is set in your profile, Looms can relate your weight to it. BMI is a rough, population-level guide — it doesn't distinguish muscle from fat and isn't the whole story for any individual — but it's a useful, standardised reference point.

Reading the trend

The value of logging is the line, not the dots. A steady direction over weeks is far more meaningful than any single morning's number, and it helps you see whether a change in diet or activity is actually moving things.

Linking it to a goal

If you're working toward a target, connect your weight to a health goal so your progress is tracked automatically as you log. You can also share a summary of your trend with your doctor when it's relevant.
