Sharing a specific lab result or trend with your doctor is one of the most useful things you can do before or during an appointment. Here's how to do it from Looms in a way that gives the doctor exactly what they need.
Sharing via a time-limited link
- Open the lab result you want to share
- Tap Share
- Choose the records to include — a single result, or a date range
- Set an expiry time (24 hours to 30 days)
- Copy the link and send it by email, SMS or WhatsApp
- The recipient can open the link in any browser — no Looms account required
- You can revoke the link at any time from Shared Links in Settings
Adding a lab result to an appointment prep
If you have an upcoming appointment, the most efficient way to share results is to add them to your Appointment Prep. This creates a structured document your clinic can access before the visit.
- Go to Appointments and open the relevant upcoming appointment
- Tap Prepare for this appointment
- In the Relevant Records section, select the lab results you want to include
- The clinic receives a notification that you've added preparation notes
Sharing trend data
For chronic condition monitoring — diabetes HbA1c, kidney function, thyroid — sharing the trend chart rather than a single result gives a much richer picture. From Lab Insights, tap the chart for the relevant test and use the Share icon to send the trend view directly. See understanding lab trend charts for help reading what those trends mean before your appointment.
Privacy note
Share links only include the records you explicitly select — they don't expose your full record. The recipient can view the shared records but cannot access any other part of your Looms account. For a full guide to all sharing options, see sharing your records, and our blog post on how to talk to your doctor about test results gives practical advice on what to discuss once you've shared them.
