The Looms nutrition tracker lets you log meals, track your daily calorie and macronutrient intake, and follow your weekly trend directly from the home screen. It works alongside your health goals, vitals and lab results so your diet data sits in context with the rest of your health record.

Opening the nutrition tracker

On the mobile app, tap the Meals tab at the bottom of the screen. On the web, find Nutrition in the sidebar under Health Tracking. Both views show today's summary: calories logged, protein, carbohydrates and fat, alongside a progress bar toward your daily target.

Logging a meal

  • Tap Add Meal (or the + button) and choose a meal type: breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack
  • Search for a food item by name — the database includes common foods and packaged items
  • Adjust the serving size using the quantity field
  • Tap Save to add it to today's log
  • Repeat for each item in a meal, or add a custom entry if a food isn't in the database

Setting a daily calorie target

To get the most from the weekly trend, set a daily calorie target that reflects your goals. Go to Nutrition Settings (tap the settings icon on the Meals screen) and enter your target. Looms uses this number to colour-code each day's bar on the home screen sparkline: green when you're at or under target, amber when you're slightly over, red when significantly over.

Your target should reflect your actual goal — maintenance, a modest deficit for weight loss, or a surplus for muscle gain. If you're unsure, a registered dietitian can help you set the right number.

Reading your weekly trend

The home screen shows a seven-bar sparkline of your calorie intake for the past week. Each bar represents one day. Today's label is highlighted. Days with no logged meals show as empty bars — not zero calories, just no data for that day.

The trend is more useful than any single day. A consistent pattern of amber or red bars signals that your target may need adjusting, or that there's a recurring high-calorie period worth examining.

Tips for accurate tracking

  • Log immediately after eating, not at the end of the day
  • Use the serving size field carefully — a 'cup' of pasta and a restaurant portion are very different
  • Don't forget drinks: juice, smoothies, alcohol and specialty coffees contribute significant calories
  • If you miss a day, don't try to reconstruct it — just continue from the next day
  • Consistent partial tracking is more valuable than perfect tracking occasionally
