Whether you are managing diabetes, monitoring prediabetes, or tracking the impact of Ramadan fasting on your blood sugar, logging your readings consistently in Looms gives you and your doctor a trend rather than a snapshot. For context on what blood glucose numbers mean, our blog post on normal blood sugar levels explained is a useful read alongside this guide.
How to log a reading
- Go to Vitals Journal
- Tap + and select Blood Glucose
- Enter the reading and select the unit (mmol/L or mg/dL) — your preferred unit is saved after the first entry
- Set the measurement type: fasting, before meal (pre-prandial), after meal (post-prandial, 2 hours), or random
- Set the date and time of the reading
- Tap Save
Measurement type matters
Fasting and post-meal readings have very different reference ranges — a reading that would be normal post-meal would be high as a fasting value, and vice versa. Always record the correct measurement type so the trend chart can apply the right reference range.
Viewing your trend
- Open Vitals Journal and select Blood Glucose
- The chart shows all readings over your chosen time range (7 days, 30 days, 3 months)
- Toggle between measurement types to see fasting and post-meal readings separately
- Tap the Share icon to send the trend to your doctor
Setting reminders
Go to Settings > Reminders to set scheduled blood glucose reminders — before breakfast, after dinner, or at custom times. Reminders fire as push notifications on your device.
