How AI analysis works

When you analyze a record, Looms reads the document and returns a plain-language summary plus a list of structured findings, each with a status and a short suggestion.

AI analysis is a helpful starting point — it is not a diagnosis. Always discuss results with a qualified healthcare professional. For more context, see our blog post on AI in healthcare.

How to run an analysis

  • Open any uploaded record from My Records
  • Tap the Analyze button (or the sparkle icon)
  • Wait a few seconds for the analysis to complete
  • Review the plain-language summary and individual findings

What counts as a finding

The AI flags anything that stands out relative to standard reference ranges or clinical patterns — abnormal values, medication notes, unusual imaging descriptions. Each finding gets a severity level (normal, moderate, high) and a brief explanation of why it was flagged.

Limits of AI analysis

  • AI cannot examine you physically or know your full clinical history
  • Findings may be false positives — context the AI doesn't have often explains them
  • Analysis is not available for all document types (handwritten notes, for example, may not process correctly)
  • Never change or stop a medication based on AI findings alone — talk to your doctor first
